Lifeform: annual forb
Distribution (origin): south and central Europe
Japan
1993: firstly reported from Kisarazu City, Chiba
2000s - early 2010s: expanded in south to Honshu
2015: frstly reported from Hokkaido

at JR Komagatake Station in Mori Town
late 2010s -: expanding its range

Habitat: in gardens and around railways, as well as roadsides and industrial sites
Leaf: alternate with glandular hairs (sepals as well)
ssp. anatolicum P. H. Davis, Ukraine, south European Russia, Turkey, Syria, northern Iraq and Transcaucasia
ssp. idaeum (Rech. f.) R. Fern., Crete
