Briza L. (コバンソウ)
Himekobansou (ヒメコバンソウ, 姫小判草), lesser quaking grass or little quaking grass
Suzugaya (スズガヤ, 鈴茅)
Life form: weedy, annual grass < 60 cm high
Distribution: native to Mediterranean Basin

exotic to Japan, probably after Edo Era
not reported from Hokkaido

Habitat: disturbed sites, such as cropfields, pastures and roadsides, in temperate regions
Inflorescence: consisting of several small cone-shaped spikelets
Chromosome number: 2n = 10, or 14
