Shibamugi (シバムギ, 芝麦), quackgrass, couch grass, or English twitch
Himekamojigusa (ヒメカモジグサ, 姫髢草)
Life form: weedy perennial grass
Distribution: originated from the Mediterranean regions, now widespread in the Old World including Japan

introduced to Japan as a pasture grass
Hokkaido Blue List: A3 (firstly reported from Tokachi District in 1975)

Habitat: sunny sites, such as crop fields, grasslands and roadsides
Chromosome number: 2n = 28, 42, or 56
Synonyms:

Elymus repens (L.) Gould, often used
Agropyron repens (L.) P. Beauv.
