Asparagus L. (キジカクシ)
Kusasugikazura (クサスギカズラ, 草杉蔓), (fragrant) Solomon seal
Lifeform: perennial herb, with 100-200 cm in height
Distribution: southern China - Taiwan - Japan (Honshu - Kyushu - Ryukyu)
Habitat: sandy coast sides
Leaf: scale-like, due to degeneration
Chromosome number: 2n = 20
Use: medicine (by stock roots) for nutritional fortification, antitussive and diuresis

Asparagus lucidus Lindl.

var. lucidus (Lindl.) Hatus. (クサスギカズラ, s.s.)
f. pygmaeus (Makino) Yamashita et M. N. Tamura (タチテンモンドウ)
Shoot: short, dwarf form

Syn. var. pygmaeus (Makino) Ohwi, A. pygmaeus (Makino) Makino, A. lucidus Lindl. var. pygmaeus Makino, etc., erect at 20-30 cm in height, used for gardening
