Lifeform: perennial forb developing bulbs
Distribution: originally in China, now established in the whole area of Japan

imported to Japan as medicine 300 years ago

Habitat: grasslands and bamboo bush
Chromosome number: 2n = 24 (x = 12)
Use: bulb = antitussive, expectorant and anti-inflammatory → clear heat, resolve phlegm, relieve cough and reduce toxicity
Synonyms:

Fritillaria verticillata Willd. var. thunbergii (Miq.) Baker

var. chekiangensis, less than 30 cm in height (when established)
