(トウワタ) Towata (トウワタ), scarlet milkweed, tropical milkweed, Mexican butterfly weed or bloodflower Lifeform: perennial forb, with 1.2 m in height (treated as annual for gardening in Japan, due to low temperature) Distribution: American tropics, including Central and South America imported to Japan in 1842 Habitat: open, disturbed habitats, such as roadsides, urban parks and scrublands
