Mentha L. (ハッカ)
Koshouhakka (コショウハッカ, 胡椒薄荷), peppermint
Seiyouhakka (セイヨウハッカ, 西洋薄荷)
Lifeform: perennial forb, with 30-90 cm in height
Distribution: native to Europe (exotic to Japan)
Habitat: escaped to sunny and mesic grasslands
Chromosome number: 2n = 72, 84 or 108
Use: herbal medicine by 1-menthol, etc.
Putative hybrid: between M. aquatica × M. spicata
