Dianthus L. (ナデシコ)
Tokonadeshiko (トコナデシコ, 常撫子), common pink, garden pink or wild pink
Tatsutanadeshiko (タツタナデシコ, 竜田撫子)
Lifeform: evergreen, perennial forb, 30-60 cm high
Distribution: eastern and southern Europe

introduced to Japan in the late Meiji Era (cold tolerant)

Habitat: anthropogenic (man-made or disturbed habitats), meadows and fields
Leaf: narrow and often gray-waxy
Use: groundcover
Cultivars: many, e.g., sweetness mixed, ipswich pinks mixed, hercules, rose de mai (see also C. caryophyllus)
