Lifeform: perennial forb
Distribution: Europe - central Asia (introduced to Japan in Meiji Era)
Habitat: grasslands, riverbeds, etc. (escaped)

Flower: pale pink - white
Use: gardening, traditionally used for soap and medicie (saponin in the roots)
Cultivars: double-flowered, etc.
