Mikazukigusa (ミカヅキグサ, 三日月草), white beaksedge
Lifeform: turfed perennial sedge
Distribution: widespred in boreal regions in the Northern Hemisphere

Japan: Kyushu (rare), Honshu (mainly north to Chubu District), and Hokkaido

Habitat: wetland (湿原), in particular, on bogs, as a pioneer species in a post-mined peatland (Nishimura et al. 2009)
Inter-specific interaction: facilitative (Egawa & Tsuyuzaki 2011)
Chromosome number: 2n = 26, or 42
