Usubasumire (ウスバスミレ, 薄葉菫), thinleaf violet* (* tentative translation)
Lifeform: perennial forb
Distribution: endemic to Japan (Hokkaido and north to central Honshu)
Habitat: mesic sites, such as in mixed forests at subalpine zones
Flower: white → spur = short, white
Lateral petal: no hair
var. pilosa H. Hara (チシマウスバスミレ) → V. hultenii W. Becker, standard
