Oenothera L. (マツヨイグサ)
Akabana-Yuugeshou (アカバナユウゲショウ, 赤花夕化粧), rose evening primrose or rose of Mexico
Lifeform: perennial forb < 60 cm high
Distribution: native to northern Mexico and Texas (widespread in temperate regions throughout the world)

South to Kanto District, Japan (intorduced in Meiji Era)

Habitat: disturbed sites, such as roadsides and open spaces
Leaf: alternate
Stamen: 8
Pistil: the top is pink/red, quadrifid
Chromosome number: 2n = 14
Synonyms (homotypic):

Hartmannia rosea (L'Her. ex Aiton) G.Don
