Madake (マダケ, 真竹), giant timber bamboo, Japanese timber bamboo or madake
Lifeform (生活型): evergreen bamboo with 10-20 m high
Distribution: China - Japan (south to Honshu)
Habitat: gravel ground, e.g., riversides
Use: edible (young shoots), hedge, bamboo work, etc.
