Lifeform: deciduous tree ≈ 8-10 m in height
Distribution: endemic to Japan (Honshu - Yakkushima Island)
Habitat: sunny and slightly-mesic forests
Seed dispersal: wind
Use: wood (kokeshi dolls, chop sticks, etc.)
