Macleaya R. Br. (タケニグサ)
Takenigusa (タケニグサ, 竹似草), plume poppy or five-seed plume-poppy
Lifeform: large, weedy, perennial forb < 3 m high
Distribution: China - Taiwan - Japan (except Hokkaido)
Habitat: grasslands, open spaces, etc. (often on skislopes in central Honshu)
Poisonous plant: sanguinarine, chelerythrine, bocconine, protopine, α-allocryptopine, etc.
Chromosomal number: 2n = 10 or 20
