Eleocharis mamillata H. Lindb.
Kuroharii (クロハリイ, 黒針藺), Kamchatka spikerush
Life form: mat-forming, rhizomatous, perennial sedge
Distribution: easern Asia, including Japan (Hokkaido, Honshu and Kyushu) and northern America
Habitat: sunny wetlands, often near sea coasts

Chromosome number: 2n = 12
Synonyms:

Scirpus kamtschaticus C.A. Mey.

These two varieties are not often established:
f. kamtschatica (ヒメハリイ), the type, hair on perianth = 4-5
f. reducta (Ohwi) Ohwi (クロハリイ, s.s.), hair on perianth = none or trace
