Etymology of Japanese name: Tree resembles Syara-no-ki (S. pseudo-camellia) but the flower is smaller
Lifeform: deciduous tree
Distribution: southern Japan
Habitat: (pioneer)
Bark (樹皮)
Flowering: white flowers, being similar with C. japonica, in early summer
f. sericea (Nakai) H. Hara (トチュウシャラノキ)
