Kumawarabi (クマワラビ, 熊蕨), leathery wood fern
Lifeform: evergreen perennial fern ≈ 40-80 cm tall
Distribution: China - Taiwan - Korea - Japan (south to Miyagi Prefecture, reported from Okushiri Island, Hokkaido)
Habitat: forest floor - roadside
Scale: red brown - brown ↔ Dryopteris uniformis (Makino) Makino: dark brown
Sporangium: producing on the upper part of leaf
Synonyms:

Polypodium lacerum Thunb.

f. dentata (Koidz.) H. Itô (キレコミクマワラビ)
Hybrids: D. × mituii Seriz. (アイノコクマワラビ)
