Lifeform: (annual-)perennial forb, often spreading spoon-shaped leaves

Carnivorous plant (食虫植物)
producing winter bud (hibernaculum)

Distribution: circumboreal, including the (sub-)alpine zones of Japan (except Kyushu)
Habitat: moist places → wetlands (湿原)
