Kobansou (コバンソウ, 小判草), big quaking grass, and others
Tawaramugi (タワラムギ, 俵麦)
Life form: annual grass
Distribution: native to the Mediterranean (exotic to Japan, including Hokkaido, probably in Meiji Era → Category D in Hokkaido Bluelist)
Habitat: weed in cropfields, pastures, roadsides, etc., especially near sea
Use: ornamental, gardening plant - escaped
Chromosome number: 2n = 24

[1-3] at West Ariake Pier Park, Tokyo, on May 12 2013. In this park, Briza minor was also found. [4-6] along an unpaved road near the entrance of Mount Mihara on Izu-Oshima Island (伊豆大島) on June 7 2023.
