Chigaya (チガヤ, 茅/茅萱), blady grass, cogon grass, and others
Life form: weedy perennial grass < 60 cm high
Distribution: E/S Africa - India - east and southeast Asia (south to southwestern Hokkaido) - Micronesia - Australia
Habitat: open spaces, grasslands

The grassland is maintained by human disturbances (人為撹乱), such as mowing and prescribed fire (野焼)

Seed dispersal: wind
