Tokusa (トクサ, 木賊/砥草), rough horsetail

Medical name: 木賊(モクゾク): adstriction, hemostate (decoction), ophthalmopathy (irrigation)

Lifeform: rhizomatous perennial evergreen fern ↔ E. fluviatile = summergreen
Distribution: widespread in holarctic region (including northern Japan)
Habitat: shady, mesic forests

[1] on a grassland completely dominated by E. hyemale at Zenibako Coast (銭函海岸), Otaru City, on August 31 2011. [2] at a backyard of Takahara Restaurant on the foot of Mount Koma on May 2 2017 (also the back of #4). [3] in Keiteki-no-Mori forest (恵迪の森) on July 23 2009. This species has been common in the forest since I was a undergraduate student. [4] at the backyard of Takahara Restaurant on the foot of Mount Koma on August 4 2015. Discarded: in Keiteki-no-Mori forest on April 22 2013
