Lifeform: deciduous tall tree
Distribution: Endemic to Japan (Kyushu - Shikoku - Honshu - southern Hokkaido)

→ Kuromatunai Line: montane zone

Habitat: developing the dominant forests

Seed dispersal: gravity (or cache by rodents)

[1-4] along a tiny trail for looking around small islands in O-numa Park, southern Hokkaido, on July 7 2013. [1] a bark (樹皮). [4] a seedling (実生) on a moss mat. [5] in a forest near Akkeshi Marine Experimental Station, eastern Hokkaido, on July 1 2014. Probably somebody transplanted here a few centuries ago , but I am not sure. [6] on a small hill in the Sapporo City Nature Education Park on September 19 2016. The seedling was naturally regenerated despite the outside of the distribution area. [7/8] along a forest road on Mount Kuromatsunai, southwestern Hokkaido, on May 22 2024.
